HOUSING: Build America Caucus Members Applaud Passage of Housing for the 21st Century Act

February 10, 2026

WASHINGTON – Today, Build America Caucus Chair Rep. Josh Harder and members Mike Lawler (NY-17) and Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) released the following statement applauding the U.S. House passage of the Housing for the 21st Century Act last night:

“Housing costs are out of control and that’s directly because of red tape holding up new home construction. Congress hasn’t passed a real housing bill in more than 50 years, and our families have been paying the price ever since.

“The bipartisan Housing for the 21st Century Act is an important bipartisan step forward. It includes smart, commonsense policies that streamline regulatory barriers and unlock greater housing production. The Build America Caucus is laser-focused on cutting red tape so families can actually afford to raise their kids and own a home.

“We applaud its passage in the U.S. House and look forward to continuing to work across the aisle and through both chambers to pass it into law.”
