HOUSING: Build America Caucus Members Celebrate Passage of Affordable HOMES Act

January 9, 2026

WASHINGTON – Today, Build America Caucus Chair Rep. Josh Harder and members Rep. Chuck Edwards (NC-11) and Rep. Jake Auchincloss (MA-04) released the following statement celebrating the U.S. House passage of the Affordable HOMES Act earlier today:

“Making housing more affordable is a key tenet of the Build America Caucus. We are committed to addressing regulatory barriers to housing production and unlocking affordable housing. Manufactured and modular homes are critical to increasing housing supply at scale, but only if we remove burdensome regulatory barriers.

“The Affordable HOMES Act will streamline energy efficiency standards and ensure that standards take into account the overall cost to homebuyers, not just the cost and benefits of energy efficiency standards alone. This clarification promises to boost manufactured housing production and provide regulatory certainty for producers, lowering the price of housing.

“This is a common-sense approach to reducing housing costs and unlocking housing supply. We applaud its passage in the U.S. House and look forward to working with the U.S. Senate to pass the Affordable HOMES Act into law.”
