RELEASE: Build America Caucus Urges Senate to Pass Historic Fix Our Forests Act

November 18, 2025

WASHINGTON – Today, on the heels of the Fix Our Forests Act’s passage out of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, a bipartisan group of members from the Build America Caucus led by Rep. Josh Harder (CA-09) released the following statement urging swift passage of the historic bill:

“The bipartisan and bicameral Fix Our Forests Act is a critical step in the right direction towards tackling the years-long megafire crisis, and we applaud our partners in the Senate for advancing this historic legislation. This bill makes commonsense reforms to the permitting process that will improve forestry management and help prevent the next severe wildfire, while improving community defense and local-state-federal cooperation. We urge the Senate to quickly bring the Fix Our Forests Act to the floor for a vote. We can’t sit by and wait any longer while our communities are at risk of the next catastrophic megafire.”

Harder was joined in calling for passage of the Fix Our Forests Act by Reps. Celeste Maloy (UT-02), Scott Peters (CA-50), Rob Bresnahan (PA-08), Laura Friedman (CA-30), Jay Obernolte (CA-23), Jake Auchincloss (MA-04), Blake Moore (UT-01), Jim Himes (CT-04), Seth Magaziner (RI-02), Rich McCormick (GA-07), George Whitesides (CA-27), and Jeff Hurd (CO-03).
